Engredea: New Products and the Definition of Natural

InstantGMP visited Engredea.

The question of defining the word “natural” pervaded the event. How much sugar or processing can occur for a product to be considered “natural”? What about insect and botanical waxes, unidentified essential oils and “natural” colorings and flavorings? There many differing opinions and it seems there are still more questions than answers.

We discovered many new, innovative products such as Chewable Juices from Harvest Soul and high-quality gummy vitamins free of food coloring from Nature’s Dynamics. We heard many companies such as LiquaDry tour their vertical business models. We loved the hardcore crunch ingredient lists at Warrior Force and Health Force Nutraceuticals, Jackalope’s grain-free bread and the egg white-based RxBar.

The staples of coconut-based products, gluten-free snacks, health bars and cold-pressed juices were plentiful. Nut butters and non-GMO products also lined the aisles. Pea protein was also trending and we tried some great chocolate pea milk from World Food Processing.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to speak with us at this event! It was great to catch up with current customers such as Elite Bio Labs and connect with many new faces. We’ll be attending the Rocky Mountain Dietary Supplement Forum in September and SupplySide West in October. If we didn’t catch you at Engredea, we hope we can catch you at another show.
