We knew this day was coming and it has arrived. The FDA released its initial proposals for regulating the vape industry. Here is what we know so far:
- The proposal would expand the FDA’s Tobacco Control Authority to include e-cigarettes, cigars, nicotine gels, pipe tobacco and dissolvables.
- Sales of e-cigarette products would be prohibited to children under 18.
- Manufacturers will be required to have an ingredients label on their products.
- All e-cigarette products created after 2007 will be considered “new” and will be subject to a FDA approval process before they are offered to the public.
